FAQ
What does % w/v mean?
Weight per volume: grams of solute per 100 mL of solution. A 1% w/v solution contains 1 g in 100 mL (10 mg/mL).
How do I make a 10% solution?
For 10% w/v, dissolve 10 g of solute and bring the final volume to 100 mL. For 10% v/v, mix 10 mL of liquid and bring the total to 100 mL.
How do I convert % w/v to mg/mL?
Multiply by 10. Example: 0.9% w/v saline = 9 mg/mL.
What is the difference between w/v, v/v and w/w?
w/v = g per 100 mL, v/v = mL per 100 mL, w/w = g per 100 g. They are only equal for dilute aqueous solutions with density ≈ 1.
